The engineer Ryan Stone was chosen for a mission in space. She made the trip with the veteran astronaut Matt Kowalsky who undertakes his last flight before retirement. So they do work outside the shuttle, a rain of debris surprises and destroys everything in its path .
Soon, Dr. Stone and Kowalsky astronaut floating in the void and have no more contact with NASA. Despite the panic that inhabits Stone listens carefully to instructions from his sidekick. To survive , the two humans shortage of oxygen must sink into the darkness to reach a space station where they might be able to communicate with Earth
